Experts were gathered for the 48th Annual A&WMA Critical Review presentation in Hartford, Connecticut, this past June, where they discussed Dr. H. Christopher Frey’s in-depth research of historic and more recent developments and trends relating to on-road vehicle emissions and energy usage, published in the June 2018 JA&AWMA. The Critical Review covered the major advances in engine design, control technologies, and fuels that have made it possible to reduce emissions and fuel use despite sustained growth in on-road vehicle miles travelled. The viewpoints of the panel ranged from health, industry, monitoring, and the environment, and provided a thorough and expansive look into vehicle usage trends and the future of personal transportation.
